The Library offers many ways to do research, both at home and in the various branch locations.

Databases are like electronic books or magazines.  Once you are logged in and using a database, you have access to literally millions of full-text articles.  You will need to enter your library card number to use the databases from outside the Library.  A few of our databases are only available for use from inside the Library; these contain the note "In Library" in the description.

The Library offers links to many, many Genealogy websites on the Internet and to the (which only works when you are IN the library).

Volunteers from the San Joaquin Genealogical Society are available to help with your family history questions. You will find them upstairs in the Genealogy Section at the Chavez Central Library the first and last Tuesday of each month (except late November through early January) from 10am until 1pm.
